Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of posts this past week. Between work, family visiting, and trumpeting, it was a crazy one! Not that I'm really complaining -- I remember this time last summer I'd just moved here and didn't have enough to do. I am so thrilled to be busy, but seriously, can someone please hurry up and invent that 25-hour day?!
Last week I had the opportunity to play with the Urbana Pops Orchestra in a movie music concert. We played music from Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, The Chronicles of Narnia, Robin Hood, and more. So much FUN! And, it was the first time I've been called to sub in one of the professional orchestras in town, which is huge! Hopefully it's the first of many. :-)
Between working 9-5 and rehearsing every night 7-9 last week, there simply weren't enough hours in the day to get everything done. So, it was definitely an exercise in multi-tasking. Quinn was my running buddy after work a few times last week, so we could both get our exercise. Other nights, I skipped the workout (GASP!) so Quinn could enjoy some social time at the dog park.
Yesterday's workout at the gym was a quick and sweaty one:

And, for some crazy exciting news: last week, I found myself actually enjoying running. And I was able to run an entire mile without stopping! Quinn and I kept to shorter 2-mile runs last week, but usually I'm not able to make it more than about a half mile without needing a breather, and I'm miserable because all I can think about the whole time is when I'm going to stop next. A couple of times last week, I caught myself actually getting lost in thought and feeling relaxed while running. I thought people who said that happened were nuts! I am so thrilled with this improvement and hope I can keep it up. Running is such great full-body exercise and real bonding time for me and Quinn.
